Richard A. Kos, CFA
Founder & President
Mr. Kos has thirty years of experience in the institutional investment management business advising plan sponsors, insurance companies, high net worth individuals, investment managers and consultants on investment management and trading issues. He currently assists investors with their hedge fund placements, alternative investments, global investment strategies and portfolio restructurings. He pioneered many of the practices and structures utilized within the transition management and commission recapture fields, saving his clients an estimated billion dollars over this time period.
Prior to founding Kos Consultants, Mr. Kos spent eight years on Wall Street as a Vice President at Salomon Brothers, Managing Director at Bear Stearns and President of Chapdelaine Pension Services Group providing investment management and transaction cost management services. Before that, he was a member of the Managing Committee at Frank Russell Company where he spent nine years advising global pension clients on global funds and brokerage issues. He was part of Russell’s Global Funds design initiative and built Russell’s highly successful transition management and commission recapture businesses. He is a former member of the Securities Industry Association’s Institutional Brokerage Committee and has met with the SEC on policy issues.
Mr. Kos was awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 1989. He received his BS in Finance from the University of Connecticut and has held Series 3, 4, 7, 24, 63 and 65 registrations. His work and research have been cited in Pensions & Investments, Traders Magazine, the Japanese Ministry of Finance Journal and other industry publications including the Association for Investment Management Research.
